Supervised Exercise Program

For those “prescribed” physical activity supervised by exercise professionals, the Herbert Wellness Center and UHealth Fitness and Wellness Center offer a Supervised Exercise Program open to members and non-members.

Due to COVID-19 regulations, the Herbert Wellness Center is not currently offering supervised exercise. Please check back for updates.

Individuals who are not currently exercising and would like to start a new routine under the guidance of an exercise professional may be eligible for the Supervised Exercise Program provided by the UM Wellness Centers. Participants will be given an initial fitness assessment that will be used to create a personalized exercise prescription that includes a series of goals.

The program is available to UM faculty and staff. To participate, you must possess at least two of the following risk factors:
  • Body mass index (BMI) greater than 27
  • Waist circumference greater than 40 inches (males) or 35 inches (females)
  • Diagnosed with high blood pressure or taking blood pressure medication
  • Diagnosed with high cholesterol or taking cholesterol lowering medication
  • Diagnosed with pre-diabetes or diabetes
  • Exercise less than 90 minutes per week
  • Physician’s clearance required prior to program enrollment
Classes will be offered on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. at the Patti & Allan Herbert Wellness Center. The cost is $300 for the 12-week program period. In addition, UM employees who complete all 36 sessions within 12 weeks will receive a 20% rebate and 550 Well ’Canes points. Payroll deduction is available.
