What Our Peer Educators Do

Student Health Peer Educators help create a campus culture where conversations about health are positive, welcoming, and stigma-free. Through education, outreach, and peer-to-peer engagement, they encourage students to prioritize their physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being. Our peer educators empower students to make informed decisions and develop healthy habits that support success both inside and outside the classroom.

All Student Health Peer Educators are NASPA Certified Peer Educators. Through the Certified Peer Educator Training Program, they develop valuable skills in active listening, referral techniques, helping behaviors, and bystander intervention.

Using these skills, peer educators provide students with support, encouragement, and guidance while connecting them to the many resources available across campus. They also help raise awareness about Student Health Services, including services such as immunizations, STI testing, travel medicine, nutrition support, and more.

Our peer educators engage students through health fairs, pop-up events, presentations, workshops, social media campaigns, and campus-wide wellness initiatives. Through these outreach efforts, they provide students with practical information, tools, and resources to support healthier lifestyles and informed decision-making.

Interested in bringing a health program to your group or event? Invite our Peer Educators to facilitate conversations on topics such as sexual health, sleep, stress management, nutrition, healthy relationships, and more.

Student Health Peer Educators regularly partner with campus departments, student organizations, and community groups to expand health education efforts and reach more students. Student Health Services is an active member of the Healthy Cane Network, a collaborative initiative within the Division of Student Affairs dedicated to promoting student well-being and helping all students thrive.
