The Department of Wellness and Recreation employs students to run the facilities and is therefore one of the largest student employers on the Coral Gables campus. A wide variety of student employee positions are available, each with its own set of responsibilities, expectations and learning outcomes.

Working for the Department of Wellness and Recreation

  • Must be a UM student enrolled in at least 6 credits (undergraduate) or 1 credit (graduate). First year law students must get permission from the Dean of Students to work on campus.
  • Be a role model for the University’s values and behaviors (Diversity, Integrity, Responsibility, Excellence, Compassion, Creativity, and Teamwork)
  • Have an energetic and outgoing personality with a willingness to help others.

Although we appreciate and value applications from students receiving Federal Work Study or that are a part of Miami Commitment, neither are a requirement for employment and all applications are reviewed. Positions that require specific skills and certifications are evaluated individually to determine starting salary, and original certifications must be provided at the time of application.
