We offer a wide variety of paid fitness, wellness, and instructional classes that are open to both members and non-members alike. For additional information about any of these instructional opportunities please contact us.

Instructional Programs

Reformer Pilates

Reformer Pilates classes are taught using Peak Piltes MVe reformer and tower systems. These classes focus on building core strength and endurance, increasing flexibility, improving muscle tone, and enhancing concentration.

Aquatics

Knowing how to swim is an important life skill for both children and adults to have, especially in South Florida. We offer a variety of aquatics classes for participants of all skill levels.

CPR and First aid

Learn life-saving skills by attending Red Cross Adult CPR/AED/First Aid Blended learning courses. The emergency cardiovascular care (ECC) courses offered by the Herbert Wellness Center are conducted in affiliation with the American Heart Association.

Learn self-defense techniques from around the world in our martial arts classes. These classes are fun, educational, and provide full-body workouts.

Tennis

We offer classes for those who are new to the sport of tennis or are looking to improve and refine their game. All of our tennis classes are held on our outdoor tennis courts.

Ballet

Improve your balance, flexibility, and coordination to achieve the coveted, “dancer’s physique,” by participating in this 6-week session ballet course. All skill levels are welcome.

Hip-Hop Dance Intensive

Join us for a journey into the heart of hip-hop dance through our immersive Choreography Hip-Hop Dance Intensive. Step into a world where movement becomes art, and rhythm ignites your soul. This intensive offers these points of entry through introductory breaking, intermediate popping dance style, contemporary yet historic grooves, and advanced choreography that portrays the performative energy of Hip Hop dance styles. Within this class, culture will be explored pertaining to the roots of African/Latin American pop culture through early Funk, Hip-Hop, and R&B music.

Instructional Programs Private Lessons

Did you know that the Herbert Wellness Center offers private (one-on-one) lessons for all instructional program courses? Contact the Sales Office for more information about pricing and availability (wellnesssuite@miami.edu).

Private Lesson Policies

  1. Registration for all instructional programs and associated private lessons are non-refundable.
  2. Private lessons must begin on time and end as scheduled. Any time lost due to client tardiness is non-refundable.
  3. Private lesson instructors are required to wait a minimum of 15 minutes past the scheduled session start time for client arrival. If more than 15 minutes pass and the client has not arrived, the entire scheduled session will be deducted from the client's purchased number of private lessons.
  4. Private lesson clients are required to provide a minimum of 24 hours notice of the need to cancel or reschedule a private lesson. If less than 24 hours notice is provided, the session may be deducted from the client's total number of purchased private lessons.
  5. To secure the booking of a private lesson, clients are required to complete their purchase by contacting the sales office.
  6. Private lesson session purchases expire 6 months after the purchase date.
  7. Private swim lessons are 30 minutes in length, private pilates sessions are 1 hour in length, and private tennis lessons are one hour in length. Designated session times cannot be adjusted or split in half.
